I was born the son of a Professor of Electrical Engineering who taught at the University of New Mexico. Growing up, I would accompany my father to the university where I would play games (rogue!) and program in Basic. Since the 7th grade, I have enrolled in computer language courses. I received my B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder and my M.S. from the University of Arizona, Tucson. |

I got introduced to white water rafting through a Christian ministry. I would spend my weekends in college taking youth groups down the mighty Rio Grande. My most harrowing experience was down Pine Creek stretch on the Arkansas River. I was captain, with a crew of three, when I was washed out 50 feet into the rapid. Luckily, I was able to get back into the raft because, due to the water in the raft, the top of the raft was at the level of the river! |

I grew up building with Legos and never lost my enjoyment of them. During the winter break of my first year at UofA, I decided to build something with Legos. I ended up buying numerous kits because I didn't have enough. Probably my favorite model was a version of the Pathfinder Lander that I designed while I was still at the Lunar and Planetary Labs. |

As a soccer player, I have played all positions on the field; however, I am most talented as fullback. Unfortunately, I haven't scored in an official game. I did get close once: the other team was busy arguing with the referee when I took a shot from the half line. The ball missed the goal by just a few feet while I tumbled to the ground with a torn quadricep. |
